City Year New York on TV

This has been a busy week as City Year corps members have been appearing on various morning shows each day this week! We have been promoting Americorps Week and appearing with other Americorps groups from around New York City.

On Monday a group visited FOX’s The Mike and Juliet Show for a live broadcast. After the taping one of the hosts, Mike Jerrick, taped a great piece for his blog. Click here to watch!

Tuesday morning a group visited the plaza of the CBS Early Show. We had a chance to see our friend and supporter Harry Smith, who gave us a great shout out on air. Thanks Harry!

Tune into your local FOX station on Wednesday the 14th at 9AM and look for some friendly red jackets in the crowd.

East New York Service Day

This past Saturday, May 10th we held our Fourth Annual Community Service Day in East New York at PS 13 and the Success Community Garden. Our teams were joined by teachers, community members, City Year Alumni and groups from local colleges.

The projects at PS 13 all took place in the school’s playground and involved painting a Roberto Clemente mural, painting a starburst basketball court design and creating a 3 lane track for the school’s track team.

The day ended with a cookout at The Success Garden where teams cleared brush and painted benches, a gazebo and trashbins.

Volunteer in Brooklyn!

This Saturday, May 10th, Join City Year New York for our 4th Annual Service Day in Brooklyn.
We need volunteers for painting murals, landscaping and playground beautification.
