City Year is an education focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students in school and on track to graduation. At City Year’s 24 urban locations across the United States and two international affiliates, teams of highly-trained corps members serve full-time in schools as tutors, mentors and role models. By focusing on attendance, behavior and course performance, which identify students who are at risk of dropping out, corps members are uniquely able to help students and schools succeed.
“I am a big believer in City Year, I am a big believer in what City Year represents. I believe that City Year should be in every one of our schools, because if we had folks like you in all of our schools, our schools will be a better place. But most importantly our students will be in a better place. And this is all about our students and how we make sure our students are graduating, and not just graduating, but graduating college and career ready.” -Dennis Walcott, New York City’s Chancellor of Education

I have a city year member in my class. She is the best person in the world. She helped me turn myself from a 70 student into a 90 student. If there was something that I could do I would.
