City Year New York continues to excite children about reading through the Bringing Books to Life program. Today at PS 57 we read the book Rap-A-Tap-Tap; a fun story on the famous tap dancer Mr. Bojangles. During the reading I personally acted out each page while tap dancing for the students and looking real cool with my costume, bongo, and “tap shoes” I created out of thumb tacks! Afterwards each student created his or her own flowers and bow ties out of tissue paper. They then got their own opportunity to act as Mr. Bojangles while dancing to jazz music. It was the most fun lesson we’ve had in quite a while.

Yours in service,

Rick Wolfsdorf
