Last week City Year New York’s corps and staff joined over 1400 City Year corps members from all over the country and South Africa in Boston for CYZYGY, City Year’s annual convention of idealism. The 3 day event featured tons of highlights; below are some.
President Clinton took time out of his busy weekend to speak to the corps. One of CYNY’s own, Alex Hernandez was on stage to present President Clinton with a 20th Anniversary City Year red jacket.
Comcast announced that they are continuing to support City Year and have pledged $27 Million for the next 3 years bringing their total contribution to City Year to almost $60 Million. Comcast also presented The Comcast Leadership Award to 5 outstanding City Year alumni who have continued their dedication to community service; who maintain a commitment to excellence; who create sustainable solutions for social change; and who exemplify the core values of City Year: teamwork, responsibility, diversity, respect for others, leadership, innovation and personal growth.
