  2. BIG Citizenship – Alan Khazei, CEO and Founder of Be the Change Inc. and former CEO of City Year has released his new book BIG Citizenship: How Pragmatic Idealism Can Bring Out the Best in America. A copy of his new book was gifted to all City Year staff, senior corps and trustees. We would like to thank Josh Bekenstein, Jennifer Eplett Reilly, Jonathan Lavine and Steve Woodsum for making this gift possible.
  3. Corps Meet and Greet – On Wednesday night we hosted our summer meet and greet for the incoming corps. More that 80 corps member joined us for an information session, team building and light reception. Thank you to Nichole Herring, Alice Pak, Sara Philips Leah Hoffman and Alli Szutu for planning and executing such a great event.
  4. Mother Teresa Day of  Service – On Thursday 50 volunteers joined City Year, Council Member Robert Jackson and NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn to celebrate the life of Mother Teresa by serving in her memory. The service included removing overgrown weeds from walking paths at Fort Tryon Park in Washington Heights. CLICK HERE to see pictures.
  5. Pepsi Refresh Update – Tonight at Citi Field Thomas Caron, Liz Farias and Leah Hoffman will be on the field before the game accepting a $5,000 check for our participation in the MLB Pepsi Refresh Challenge.
