What Did You Think of MLK Day?

With More than 1,200 volunteers serving in East New York, we have heard a great response from the many of you who joined us on Monday. Check out some remarks from our volunteers and leave us a comment about your day.

I just wanted to send along a note saying how much we enjoyed our MLK day with City Year. The entire day was well planned and executed. We thought that the painting of the murals was a lot of fun, and appreciated the work that went into organizing such an event. Thank you for including us.

I just wanted to thank you and the rest of the City Year New York staff for a great day of service. As an alumna of City Year, the MLK service day proved a great oppurutnity to share City Year with our members. The members of the New York Community of Muslim Progressives had a great time. We constructed and painted some wonderful shelves for the students of PS 328.

Thank you for including Hip Hop 4 Life to participate in a wonderful day of service honoring Martin Luther King Jr. The day was well organized and opening ceremony was very inspiring. Great job to you and your staff. Our Hip Hop 4 Life Empowerment Team really enjoyed their day of service with City Year. They were proud of the room that they painted for the students. We really loved our Project 46 leader Sarah. You can count on Hip Hop 4 Life to be at every City Year MLK Service Day!

I, along with an 8 and 11 years old volunteered at the ML K event in Brooklyn: 400 Pennsylvania Avenue.  We had a rewarding experience.  At the end of the day, the girls asked if they could stay longer.  They both said they cannot wait until next year to serve again.  I am a recent MS graduate: Early Childhood Education.  I support the work City Year is doing in schools.  While I and the girls are unable to give monetary donation, we want to donate our time.  Please keep us informed of upcoming events.
