Service Spotlight: Parent Engagement

Last week the City Year team serving at P.S.149 held its Annual Build-A-Bear Workshop. This event was held after school with students and their family members with the goal of strengthening the bond between parents and their children as they work together to “Build a Bear” – or at this event a dogs and rabbits.

City Year introduced the event by performing a Bringing Books to Life (BBL) lesson on “The Stray Dog” by Marc Simont. Following the lesson, families were able to begin stuffing their animals as they enjoyed pizza and soda provided by Papa John’s.
