#SteppingOnIlliteracy

We are excited to be partnering with Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. and the Latino Caucus at Columbia University: School of Social Work for their First Annual “Stepping on Illiteracy” Benefit Show. Stepping on Illiteracy will raise awareness on the alarming statistics of youth illiteracy and raise funds for youth programming & scholarships. This event features performances that include step routines, spoken word, interactive skits, and other art expressions that relate to the theme of “the importance of literacy among youth, the promotion of higher education and always excelling in your studies.”

City Year Program Manager Carlos Mendoza will speak about youth illiteracy & how City Year is working to address this issue and the The Royal Rock Steppers,  the I.S. 204 Step Team coached by two City Year corps members will preform.

Doors open at 7:30 and the show begins at 8pm at Alfred Lerners Hall on the Columbia University campus. Tickets can be purchased online;  $10 presale or $12 at the door.
