The JP Morgan Chase Foundation directs the majority of its time, attention, and investment toward neighborhoods in cities that are typically among the most challenged and we have been proud to work alongside them in the South Bronx since 2006. JP Morgan sponsors our literacy interventions at MS 302 and MS 424 and they volunteer with us in this neighborhood.
Last Thursday, on the hottest day so far this summer, more than 100 JP Morgan Chase Summer Interns gave their time and energy (and sweat) volunteering at the Mitchell Community Center. Their hard work helped turned an unused lot into a fun and engaging play area for the children who attend this center, many of whom work with our City Year corps members at P.S. 154, right next door to the center.
Days like this could not be possible without the leadership of the City Year New York Board Chair Stephanie Mudick and we would like to thank everyone who volunteered with us last week for their commitment to service and to the success of the students and families of the South Bronx.
